Christmas Day 2011

I pulled a muscle in my neck/shoulder first thing in the morning - what a great start!

We had an early morning beach trip planned - Tani's first "outing".  We were all excited as Adam's FIFO (fly in fly out) colleague was filling in for him - yay!  On the way to the beach we stopped at the famous "Red Dog" statue in Dampier.

Our little red dog gets his picture taken with the festive Red Dog.
Unfortunately we never made it to the beach as I got called to work for a fire.  Luckily(?) I had injured my shoulder and couldn't attend the fire - instead I did management support (in the office) and got a good insight into how hectic it can be.  I spent both Christmas and Boxing Day in this role and decided that I'd rather be at the fire than in the office.

Meanwhile, Santa (in the form of Daddy) visited and Tani got his first pig's ear - what a treat!  I'm sure we'd been on our best behaviour...

Tani's first week in Karratha

It was a busy first week for a little pup.  We got our name "Tani" (Swahili) which has a few meanings (depending on how it is used): Strength, Power, Joke/Jocular.

We helped Daddy do some planting.

and the width.
Checking that the mulching is done correctly.
This gardening business is exhausting!

Lion hunter

Rhodesian Ridgebacks: "their famous reputation as fearless, but wary, hunters was first established in Africa where, either in packs or individually, they could bay a lion and survive."

A stand off... between hunter and hunted.

Newest addition to the family

Tani (then un-named) arrived at the Williams/Speirs Karratha household on the evening of Friday 16th December... all the way from Albany (southern WA).
